I wish them luck, but it will be difficult in a seat which takes in a huge chunk of England, plus Gibraltar...

It's not like Euro constituencies have to be this large. Luxemburg has a similar population to Cornwall, but is not swallowed up in some multinational constituency.

European Elections 4th June 2009

The upcoming European elections are a real opportunity to highlight the insanity of the current European electoral system. The so called South West region is unrecognisable blob created by bureaucrats that don't understand history or the way that communities in the 21st century work. Cornwall is stuck at the end of this amazing mess which ties us in with areas of the UK that have no similarities to us at all. Why does this matter? Democracy depends on people having real opportunity to influence the way they are governed, when huge diverse areas are lumped together elected representatives need only keep the majority happy to win. Love it or loathe it Europe is important to Cornwall because it controls some of our most important industries, agriculture and fishing. Every 5 years the people of the South West region appoint (not elect in truth) a rag bag of far right sympathising UKIPers, and former West Minster candidates. On June 4th the people of Cornwall can make a positive statement against this farce and vote for a party that puts all the people of Cornwall first. Every vote will count towards this goal and despite the statistics of the South West region, every vote will state that we are fed up with being forced to accept under financed public services, inequality and relative poverty.

Mebyon Kernow is part of the EFA within Europe. You may be interested to see the EFA film for the election on Thursday. Cornwall is mentioned in part 2.

The European Free Alliance (EFA) is pro-European but they want another EUROPE, not a Europe of nation states of the 19th Century. EFA WANTS A EUROPE OF THE PEOPLES.

 Random Information.
1549 - War between Cornish and English... The 5th, the final engagment came, the rebels (Cornish) were outmanoevred and surrounded, and great was the slaughter and cruel was the fight, and such was the valour and stoutness of these men that the Lord Grey reported himself that he never in all the wars that he had been did he know the like. The Devonshire men went north up the valley of the Exe, where they were overtaken and cut to pieces by Sir Gawen Carew, who left the corpses of their leaders, hanging on gibbets from Dunster to Bath.
