Wednesday 28 October 2009 - London

Cornwall in Europe

This conference will be an opportunity to learn more about one of the historic regions of the United Kingdom and Europe from representatives of Cornish cultural and intellectual life. Organised jointly by the Federal Trust and Cornish cultural group CERES, it will also be an opportunity to understand better the European links and networks in which Cornish representatives participate. 4.30pm-7pm, at London Metropolitan University, 31 Jewry Street, London EC3N 2EY.

Sorry to be a pedant, but Cornwall has always been in "Europe". The EU and Europe are not one and the same, no matter how much they try to be.

Indeed the European Union and the continent of Europe are not the same. Lets add to that the Council of Europe which again is quite different.

Still the conference is an important development and a chance to show case Kernow yet again.

I would go as far as saying it's one of the most European parts of the UK, since Cornwall was in regular contact with Brittany, and it was easier to reach parts of the continent from there than London.
